Michael Sudarkasa is the CEO of the Africa Business Group (ABG), an African economic development company, which includes Africa Business Consulting (ABC), Africa Business Media (ABM), Africa Business Tourism, and Africa Business Energy. He is currently the International Trade and Infrastructure Chair of the Africa CSO Committee of the Africa-EU Partnership Forum and is a past Chair of the African Law Committee of the Section of International Law of the American Bar Association and served on the Boards of the Calver New Africa Fund. He has vast experience as a commercial attorney and economic development practitioner, specialized in African private sector development, international trade and investment promotion and facilitation, corporate finance, and private equity investment.
Disaster risk reduction activities
Michael Sudarkasa has been a participant in the South Africa National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) Energy in agriculture working group since 2017 (Resilience). His firm has recently (January 2020) been chosen to serve as the South Africa coordinator for the UNIDO supported Project Finance Advisory Network (PFAN) (Resilience). His firm was engaged by UNDRR to help organize a meeting of African private sector organizations to support DRR which was held at the joint Arab-Africa Forum held in Tunisia in 2018. In 2019, Michael Sudarkasa was invited by UNDRR to speak about the importance of African private sector participation in DRR at the May 2019 Global Platform in Geneva.
