Strengthening disaster resilience of SMEs through business continuity planning: Guidance and templates
This resource supports Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including microenterprises, in developing a basic business continuity plan (BCP), with the aim of progressively aligning with leading international standards, particularly ISO 22301:2019 on business continuity management systems.
The guidance provides a clear, structured approach along with three templates (basic, intermediate and advanced) that were designed to accommodate different levels of organizational maturity, needs, and resource capacity. While ISO 22301 primarily focuses on preventing operational disruptions, the templates presented here also incorporate disaster response and recovery. This broader scope reflects the broader role of SMEs in safeguarding employees, their families, customers, and other key stakeholders.
