Mission

The UgoRound Geo Incident and Alert Platform has been developed to provide authorities with an all-hazard warning and notification system. The system is designed to operate simultaneously in a centralized and decentralized capacity. This will allow local jurisdictions to manage community engagement, resilience building and then assist during an emergency and throughout the recovery process with easy-to-understand geographic information.

The platform allows users to send and post information to relatable geo locations, clearly depicted on a Map. People are far more likely to understand context when the location of the event or potential event is displayed.

Warning alerts, incident mapping and notifications are able to be listed on any website that represents the authoritative entity. This means people accessing your website via search or direct, can obtain up-to-date and dynamic information as it pertains to the area/location of concern.

DRR activities

UgoRound MHEWS is primarlity working in Africa where its disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities focus on enhancing resilience to natural hazards such as floods, droughts, cyclones, and heatwaves. Governments and organizations are implementing early warning systems, climate adaptation measures, and community-based disaster preparedness programs. In cities, which are highly vulnerable due to rapid urbanization and informal settlements, initiatives include improving infrastructure, implementing flood control systems, and integrating DRR into urban planning.

Voluntary Commitments

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
