Enhancing supply chain resilience
Time
14:00 - 15:00 Geneva
Background
In light of intensifying climate shocks, natural hazards, and a shifting international trade landscape, the stability and continuity of supply chains have become critical to national economies and the communities that depend on them. This webinar will present the approach and findings of a multi-year research project led by researchers at the Waterloo Climate Institute, in partnership with the UNDRR Regional Office for the Americas and supported by ARISE Networks. Participants will preview tools, share key project findings and real-world experiences to help organizations better understand disaster risk and foster cross-organizational learning and innovation.
The multi-year project (funded by Natural Resources Canada and led by Dr. Jose DiBella and Prof. Sarah Burch, Waterloo Climate Institute, University of Waterloo, Canada) engaged businesses in a series of co-design research activities to understand risk, explore future risk scenarios, and identify resilience practices within supply chains. Evidence was gathered through workshops, boardroom sessions, and case studies involving more than 40 companies and industry associations across Canada and Latin America. Drawing on this evidence, the team has developed a suite of tools and resources to help companies strengthen supply-chain integration and resilience.
