The Resilience in a Box program is a collaborative partnership between The UPS Foundation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the Disaster Resistant Business (DRB) Toolkit Workgroup. The tool is based on best practices and designed to educate newcomers on business resilience.

This tool is useful for ARISE members, related to the priority on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). With a focus on preparing vulnerable small businesses which often do not have adequate resources to focus on preparedness actions, the resources provided by this tool can guide companies toward addressing preparedness issues while building in flexibility to handle potential business interruptions.

The tool contains three levels:

  1. Basic Level: Checklists and documents are designed for simple business preparedness information that establishes a foundation for readiness and action with easy steps to take. They are applicable to all types and sized businesses. Documents include: Resilience Checklist, Top 20 Preparedness Tips for Business, and Collateral Materials.

  1. Intermediate Level: This level builds upon the fundamental tools to get businesses better informed and determine specific actions that will enhance their resilience against all hazards or potential interruptions. Business Disaster Resilience 101 Workbook provides more detailed business readiness tools, tips, and resources to assist companies by addressing their own six critical assets before a disaster occurs.

  1. Advanced Level: This level provides full business continuity and disaster planning solutions to create resilience against all hazards. Documents include: Disaster Resistant Business (DRB) Workbook, which provides the foundation for developing a Business Continuity Plan (BCP), and DRB Toolkit, which offers a robust, comprehensive, simple, and interactive plan-builder application using a step-by-step approach with customizable tools.

Local adaptation of the tool is under way by ARISE- Mexico, including availability in Spanish.
